Blockchain: ASIC Mining Definition

ASIC Mining Glossary

Blockchain

The blockchain is the public ledger that orders blocks of transactions and makes them verifiable by the network.

Why It Matters

Miners secure the chain by validating transactions and adding each new block to it. Every Bitcoin ASIC miner contributes to that work.

What to Watch For

An ASIC does not need a copy of the blockchain to mine. It hashes block data sent by a mining pool or by your own node.
