Feed-in Tariff: ASIC Mining Definition

ASIC Mining Glossary

Feed-in Tariff

A feed-in tariff is a set price a utility pays for the renewable electricity you send to the grid. In the US the same idea usually appears as net metering or a utility buyback rate.

Why It Matters

It helps you compare the value of exporting energy versus using it on site to mine. Run the profitability calculator with your own electricity rate to see the mining side of that comparison.

What to Watch For

If your utility pays more for exported electricity than your miner would earn from it, exporting can be the better choice. Browse our home miners if you want to size a small on-site load.
